The 2007 award will be formally presented to Fleishman at the Annual Meeting of NYCON slated for the afternoon of October 11th at Mohonk Mountain House, New Paltz, New York. The Luncheon will take place during Camp Finance, a two-day retreat—aimed at boosting the accountability of nonprofits—will be attended by nonprofit executive directors, key financial staff, practitioners and board members.
Fleishman has served in a wide variety of board leadership roles over an extended period of time. These include: President of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Mid-Hudson Chapter; Board of Director of the Bardavon Theater; Treasurer of Elat Chayyim; Rabbi Erwin Zimet Hebrew Day School; the Poughkeepsie Rotary Club; and the Founding President of the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council.
From 1994-2006, Fleishman played a large role in Bardavon Theater’s future, including the launch and the fulfillment of the Bardavon’s $10 million capital campaign and a two year consultation with Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center. During Fleishman’s presidency of the Bardavon, the theater re-established itself on firm financial footing. The Bardavon board recently elevated Gene Trustee Emeritus in honor and recognition of his longstanding dedication to the theater.
Bonnie Meadow, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County, Inc. describes Fleishman as “the kind of person that you can always count on to help, whether the task is small and unglamorous or monumental and mind-boggling. Gene’s wise counsel is a cornerstone of our decision-making process and a reliable voice of reason.” Fleishman is currently the Secretary of the Board of Directors of Jewish Federation of Dutchess County, a position he has held for three years and also serves on the Executive Committee.
