Help Shape NYCON’s Testimony:
Join Us for a Conversation About Nonprofit Executive Compensation
On February 6th, 2012 NYCON CEO Doug Sauer will provide testimony at the NYS Senate’s public hearing to “examine executive compensation at not-for-profit organizations receiving State funding and the actions needed to prevent State tax dollars from being wasted on excessive salaries.”
As you may already be aware, the spotlight is shining brightly on “excessive compensation” and overhead costs within New York’s nonprofit sector. The Senate hearing is just one of the venues in which nonprofits are being examined. The other glaring example is the Governor’s recent budget proposal and Executive Order to “rein in” nonprofit compensation (capping salaries being paid to Executives via state dollars at $199,000) and administrative “operating” costs (directing 85% of all state dollars to be spent on “providing direct care or services” by 2015.)
As we prepare our oral testimony, we want to hear from you, our member nonprofits across New York State. We encourage you to be a part of the process. Please join Doug Sauer on February 2nd, 2012 for this Members Only conference call.
In this call we will update you on the current events regarding the Governor’s order, the senate hearing and more – as well as layout NYCON’s initial thoughts on testimony. We will be opening the floor for our members to share their opinions, feedback and stories from their own organizations or experiences with compensation or administrative costs and state contracts.
