Sauer Elected as Board Treasurer for the National Council of Nonprofits

Albany, New York (7/20/10) - - The New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON), Inc. is pleased to announce Doug Sauer, CEO, has been elected Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the National Council of Nonprofits (National Council), the nation’s largest network of nonprofits  representing over 20,000 nonprofits who are affiliated with 40 state associations. Sauer most recently served as Chair of the National Council’s Board for over two years.

According to Tim Delaney, the National Council’s President & CEO, “The National Council, and indeed nonprofits all across America, owe NYCON and New York’s nonprofit community a huge ‘thank you’ for sharing Doug Sauer with us the last couple of years as our Board Chair. Doug’s clear vision and sound judgment – combined with the enormous respect he has earned among other national leaders on our Board because of his proven integrity and savvy intellect – provided the bold leadership necessary for the National Council to serve nonprofits across the country during these challenging economic times.”

Sauer is currently President of the Board of Directors of Council Services Plus, a for-profit insurance brokerage firm.  Past  board service includes President and Treasurer of the National Association of Planning Councils; Governance Matters; the Center for Women in Government at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy; the Albany Community Development Credit Union; the Grafton Free Library; and Berlin Central School District.  Doug also served as a gubernatorial appointee on the NYS National Commission on Community Service.
