Development Associate- Edward Hopper House

The Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center (EHH) is seeking a development associate to support fundraising activities and a capital campaign with a goal of $1,000,000. Edward Hopper House is a nonprofit located in Nyack, NY, just twenty miles from NYC. It is the
birthplace and family home of American artist Edward Hopper (1882-1967) and has been operating as a nonprofit arts and cultural institution since 1970. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, EHH serves as a resource on the life and art of Edward Hopper, is a multi-arts
center and nurtures engagement in the arts.

In addition to day-to-day administration, a successful candidate must have demonstrated skills in communications, networking and organizational management to work with the Executive Director, donor prospects and the campaign leadership committee on The National Treasure Campaign and the annual fund.

The Edward Hopper House draws visitors from the NY metropolitan area and around the world. The skills and capacity to build upon local, regional and national resources and leverage Hopper’s international reputation is valued. A successful candidate will enthusiastically represent Edward Hopper House, be a dynamic communicator, manage donor relations, cultivate sponsors, advance campaign growth, problem
solve effectively, be detail oriented and have an appreciation for the arts.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • Supports the ED with Board of Director’s management
  • Develops relations with donors and members of Edward Hopper House
  • Provides research on prospective donors
  • Develops strategies for donor prospect cultivation
  • Utilizes fundraising data base
  • Supports the Executive Director with scheduling of donor and community meetings
  • Serves as the voice of Edward Hopper House when requested
  • Effectively manages meeting schedules and tools for campaign committee and Exec Director
  • Drafts compelling letters and email communications
  • Oversees marketing materials for the campaign
  • Participates in special event production

  • Superb writing skills: drafts compelling letters, invitations, campaign materials
  • Excellent speaking skills
  • Basic financial skills to monitor expense budget
  • Superb organizer for documentation purposes, event and meeting details
  • Sense of curiosity, analytical abilities, and comfort with internet research
  • Highly confident with refined interpersonal skills
  • Provides event support to fundraising committee of the Board and Executive Director
  • High energy level to multitask
  • Effective problem solver and strategist
  • Excel, Word, Prospect research skills a must. Donor Perfect or Raiser’s Edge skills a plus.
  • 3 years minimum experience in similar environment, non-profit preferred
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent
