Donation Options In New York State

ChooseYourCharity is an informational website for donor choice and education on nonprofit accountability and ethical practices in charitable solicitation. It is an internet-based data center supported by Charitable Venture Foundation, which includes profiles of all CCSNYS charitable nonprofit members and highlight those that have signed the accountability pledge to abide by ethical standards in charitable fundraising that provide the utmost respect for donor interest and privacy. This pledge was developed under the New York Council of Nonprofits, Inc.´s (NYCON) Donor Choice & Accountability Project (DCAP).

Donors may explore giving options and make charitable donations directly to profiled nonprofits in a variety of ways, including on-line, with all donations directly given to the charity of choice through our partnership with NYCharities.org. The most recent available IRS 990 financial information for profiled agencies is currently available through links.

ChooseYourCharity includes educational materials on nonprofit accountability standards, tax laws and current issues, descriptions of federated campaigns and community foundation activities, and links to relevant information sites.
